The Invisalign® teeth straightening system is designed to fit seamlessly into your busy lifestyle, all with a custom-made series of aligners created just you at Austin Heights Orthodontics.
Dr. Couto is an experienced Invisalign provider. He will thoroughly evaluate your needs during your initial consultation, to determine whether or not you're a good candidate for Invisalign. This initial consultation will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about Invisalign, how much it costs, dental/orthodontic insurance, or anything else you're wondering about.
The Austin Heights Orthodontics team will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth. These will be used to make a digital 3-D image of your mouth. Based on these images, Dr. Couto will then develop a detailed treatment plan, which will include the exact movements of your teeth during treatment, and its duration. We will also show you a virtual representation of the movements your teeth go through during each stage. Treatment usually takes about a year for adults, and for teens the duration it is comparable to the of braces.
the next step is to create a series of custom-made, clear aligners just for you. Invisalign aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that is nearly invisible, and won't irritate your cheeks and gums like regular metal braces can. You'll wear your aligners throughout the day, and remove them only to eat, or to brush and floss your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gradually begin to shift into the correct position.
Every other week or so, you'll switch to a new set of aligners. You will also attend checkups with your orthodontist every 6 weeks or so, to monitor your treatment. For best results and most timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for 20 - 22 hours each day, for the duration of your entire treatment. As the treatment progresses, you'll see how much closer you are to achieving your straight, even smile.
The day treatment end is an exciting one – you'll find yourself smiling from ear to ear! At your final Invisalign treatment appointment with the Austin Heights Orthodontics team, they will determine if you will need temporary retainers to keep your teeth in their correct positions.
