Invisalign® First for Children

Invisalign First is a new range of aligners designed specifically for children, now available at our Coquitlam orthodontic clinic.

What is Invisalign First?

Invisalign First works a lot like standard Invisalign treatment, but Invisalign First has been specially designed for children's developing smiles, making room for permanent teeth as they erupt.

Invisalign First helps to correct children's most common orthodontic issues including, tooth spacing, arch development and expansion, crowding and protrusions, and will also improve the overall look of the smile.

Invisalign First gently guides children's teeth as they grow, helping to lessen or eliminate the need for more extensive or invasive orthodontic treatment later in life.

How Does Invisalign First Work?

Invisalign First is designed to expand and contour the jawline via a process called dental arch expansion. This process applies pressure to the teeth to gradually increase the width of the dental arch.

When your child attends a consultation at our office, the orthodontist will be able to determine if your child is a good candidate for this treatment.

If Invisalign First is an appropriate orthodontic treatment for your child, the orthodontist will begin the treatment process by taking pictures, x-rays, and impressions of your child’s mouth, teeth and jaws. These will all be forwarded to an Invisalign lab, where your child's custom Invisalign First aligner(s) will be made.

Once the aligners are ready, you will bring your child back to our office to have the aligner(s) fitted to their smile.

During treatment, your child's aligners will gradually shift the teeth into their new positions. Based on the severity of your child's misalignment, they may require either a single aligner (for either the top or bottom jaw), or a pair of aligners (one for the upper and one for the lower jaw).

Invisalign First Benefits for Children

Invisalign First is an alternative to standard Phase 1 Orthodontic treatment for kids because it is:

  • Designed to treat a broad range of children's orthodontic issues, whether simple or complex, including spacing, crowding, and narrow dental arches.
  • Removable, that means your child will be able to brush and floss like they always have.
  • Designed with comfort in mind, meaning no discomfort from poking wires or rubbing brackets.
